A c-section - I know this is major surgery and you can't get up for days and they cut your muscles and you can't even cough without huge pain.
or a nautral birth - i hear of piles, pelvic floor muscles going totally to pot, and tearing injuries meaning you end up incontinent or with extremely weak bladder or even bowels, and sex become very different to how it was before, if not pointless.
I don't mind pain in the short term, but the thought of bladder or bowel incontinence fills me with dread, especially as i often suffer with uti's already... So to me, the c-section seems to have less impact on your life long term? Is this a wrong assumption?
I have never had kids so can you ladies enlighten me about this?
I heard that this is actually common in prisons, because some people are raped on a daily basis, and eventually they become permanently incontinent. Is this true, or just a myth?

Please if you can advice us we have a 7month old Border Collie bitch we have had her from an 8 week old and we are aware that she will soon need to be spayed, (as we do not intend for her to have pups) the problem is having not kept a bitch before we are uncertain when we should get her spayed.
by this i mean we have conflicting advice for example we are told if we do not let her have a season then she may become incontinent! and if we do let her come into season she will make a horrible BLOODY mess!
can you tell us what is best for her and us?
please help.
Kip was my wife's dog which she got from a rescue centre when she was 13 years old and kip was 18 months. He was a majorly nervous dog and once described by a dog whisperer as the most disturbed dog she had ever seen. It took him years to get over the nerves but if you'd have seen him now you would have fallen in love with him like i did when i met my wife 5 years ago.
A year and a half ago our dog got cancer which we paid to have operated on. He then started recovering when we were told he needed another op as they hadn't got it all. He had his second op and myself and my wife were very nervous as he was very hit and miss this time and we weren't sure weather he would pull through, but eventually he really picked up and fully recovered with no signs of the cancer.
Our dog was as normal as ever on sunday the 30th september 2009. He was a 14 year old Labrador which we know is a very good age for a Lab! Suddenly around 4pm that day he started panting and acting very oddly in my mother and father in laws garden. He was walking round in circles and looked very worried. He couldn't control his back legs properly and his eyes were flickering from side to side like he was seeing things.
We took him straight home as this is the only place Kip felt safe and sometimes he can get himself into a state when he gets nervous. When we got home he suddenly went back to normal and as we had planned to go to my mother and father in laws that night, we called the vet who advised us to move everything off the floor so that if he starts acting funny again he couldn't hurt himself as they suspected he was having a stroke.
When we got back home a bit later he was curled up at one side of his bed, panting and his eyes were flickering again. He didn't want to get out of his bed at all and when he tried to, he would leap out of his bed and leap back in again. We took him to the vets at 1:30am and saw the emergency vet. She confirmed again that he was having what the vets call "mini episodes" (strokes). She said that she could sedate him to calm him overnight and see how he is in the morning but also said that if he is ok tomorrow he would have to go away for scans and also that the stroke could cause damage to his brain which he might not recover from. As he was quite an old pup and a very nervous dog we new he wouldn't cope with going away for scans. He had also become incontinent and we had cheated death once before with him, we made the hardest decision you could ever make for your pet and put him out of his misery. He let out a big breath like it was a sigh of relief.
We really miss our beloved Kip. The house feels very empty without him, but i just want to feel comfortable in the knowledge that we did the right thing?
Sorry i meant 30th August 2009.
Thank you all for your kind words. No one knows what it feels like to lose a dog until you have done so yourself. I will eventually get another dog but it will never be a replacement for Kip. The hardest thing is coming home to an empty house with no Kip here to meet me at the door. Its amazing how you can miss being woken up at 6:30am by him moaning cause he needs a wee! I even miss having to walk him everyday. I am sure he is up in doggy heaven and happy as he could ever be!
My poodle is almost 18 years old. He is blind and deaf. He wears diapers due to being incontinent of bladder. He has been blind and deaf for several years and has worn diapers for at least a year. He recently has seemed to become more and more confused and in the past week more agitated. He paces a lot and has been increasingly barking/yelping through the day for no apparent reason, sometimes as long as 5 hours straight. He usually starts at 5 in the morning. He just stands in his bed and barks. He does not seem to want to be comforted. In fact, over the past few months he does not even seem to like to be touched. He rarely wags his tail. He does eat and drink a lot but the vet thinks he also has cushings disease which would explain that. .He has lost weight over the past year. He seems oblivious to when we come home, he used to wag his tail even though he could not see us. The vet has just started treating him with valium which sometimes does not even work. He has also been put on selegilene. I don't want to keep him alive if he just has to be sedated all the time. It hurts me so much to hear his constant barking and there is absolutely nothing I can do to help. We put our cat to sleep in the past but the decision was easier because the cat was already in the dying process from kidney disease ands there was nothing else the vet could do. Please help with any thoughts. It just seems hard when he is still eating, drinking and walking around.
I recently moved to a new state with my Husband who got a job transfer. But We're having some problems:
Now, prior to us moving I invited a friend of mine to come stay with us after we moved if she wanted, until she was ready to find her own place.
My husband and I moved in late May and my friend (since middle school) moved up and in with us in late June. We told her she didn't need to pay us rent or anything, and since we moved up before she did, only our names are on our lease -not hers. The particular apartments we live in do not allow "roommates" but our manager agreed to let my friend stay with us as an "extended guest."
My friend brought with her ,her elderly dog too. For the most part the dog is fine except she has become incontinent since her arrival here. She's peed more times then I can count on our carpeting and has even thrown up and pooped a few times as well!
At our apartments we have to pay a $500 dollar pet fee. Which we were supposed to be paying off in monthly payments. But we got behind for 3 months (we owe $300) since we have had numerous moving expenses and my husband's job has been messing around with his paychecks. This this has put us behind and broke pretty much since we first arrived up here. Bills are piling up and money is getting tight!
I asked my friend if she would mind Paying half the Pet Deposit fee and we would pay the other half. She said a month ago that she would be willing to do so,so when I actually asked her to ,about 2 weeks ago, she agreed without any problems to it. I told her to have within the next couple weeks, and Needless to say I was relieved.
Well nothing was said about it further until my mom came up to visit last week, and when my friend came home I was talking with my mom on the couch. We said hello and my friend left to go walk her dog. She came back in a rage! She slammed the door and very loudly demanded to know when I told our manager that she would pay him her half. ( which I never said that's what I would do, since she isn't on our lease) I told her I didn't ,and then she yelled right in front of my mom and everything. "Well I just don't have the money for it honestly!" and ran in her room and slammed the door.
Heres the thing. She told me she had 3 grand saved up,but she told me 2 grand of it was for student loans she got for going to her online school. But that she doesn't want to spend it cause she doesn't want to have to pay it back later on.
She keeps on saying that she doesn't want to spend money, and she doesn't really. She never goes out unless it's to the gym and buys really cheap food for herself. She eats a lot of tuna fish!
So I'm just not seeing why she's so worried about money since she also works now too. She knows My husbands and My financial situation right now and still has not offered up -any-sort of help. Normally, I wouldn't mind but when we have to pay $1000 monthly when things are rough, and she doesn't pay anything to live here it is kinda frustrating for me.
She's been really moody since moving up here and also never cleans anything! (it's gross)
So my question is this:
How do I get her to pay up? or leave? *keep in mind she's been a friend of mine for 10 years. and I would still like to be friends -just not live together.
Please help My husband is really frustrated and I'm caught in the middle.
I'm almost 15 weeks and for the last few weeks I've been losing a bit of bladder control when I have to vomit or sneeze. Is this common? Or am I becoming incontinent? Is there anything I can do to stop it from happening?
I have my next midwife appt coming up in a few weeks, and I will bring it up with her then, I was just curious if any of you have experienced this?
The patient is in day care now while his spouse works and teenage child is in school. The patient is becoming incontinent, and today he pooped in the shower. He has wandered away once. He needs help dressing and shaving. Sometimes he speaks ok, and other times he can only speak gibberish. Sometimes he can take a shower by himself and brush his teeth, and other times he will say that he showered but hasn't. He might put cereal in a glass with water, if not helped with meals. He can't turn on a stove or fasten a seat belt. He struggles with figuring out how to open a car door. He can turn a tv off by pushing a button, but doesn't understand that he can turn the tv on by pushing the same button.
What are the guidelines for determining if a patient is ready for a nursing home instead of assisted living?
she has also became incontinent.she is eating ok.her eyes are glassy and she dosnt hear to good only when she wants.she does lean to one side occasionally.
Two years ago i was a cheerleader and last year quit and am going to do it again this year.
I have always had urge incontinence and incontinence pads have always worked for me because the leaks were lighter and i could usually make it to a bathroom before it was fully over. Over the year that i quit cheerleading i have become fully incontinent. The wettings are much heavier and i can't even feel the urge anymore. My doctor suggested to just wear diapers because other medications haven't worked in the past.
I can still tumble and everything just fine in the diapers and they're not noticeable since i wear sweatpants (were allowed to wear sweatpants to practice since the gym is fully air conditioned and it gets pretty cold in there.)
Well tryouts (not really tryouts just evaluations to see what level you will be put on) were last week where we just did the hardest tumbling we could. the years that i was cheerleading i was a flyer and really good at it so as i was leaving from the tryouts my coach asked if i wanted to be a flyer again and without thinking a said yes since i loved flying..... well it didn't occur to me until i got home that the backspot might feel it or something and now im really nervous and embarrassed about it. Practices don't start until the end of the month so i have until then to think of something.
im 16 and am going to be on a level 4 team. any help? sorry my question was so long

the only thing i would be worried about is during stunting the backspot would feel it or something embarrassing might happen.
any other answers??
recently, my dog has become quite thin, she is a 10 year old boxer, she seems to be drinking ALOT more water than usual, and moves her bowl around if there is no water in it. she has also become quite incontinent. usually she used to go to the door if she needed to pee, but now she just seems to do it in the house, and i feel cruel telling her off for this, as really, im sure if she could help it she wouldn't do this, does anyone have any advise please :) x
Hello,
My mother in law is in the later stages of Alzheimers and her husband is struggling more and more to care for her on his own. She seems to be developing new symptoms at quite a rapid rate, for example she has begun getting physically and verbally aggressive, and in recent weeks has become very incontinent. My father in law is up at least every 2 hours in the night, some nights he hardly sleeps at all. Her periods of lucidity seem to be getting smaller and smaller.
Can you please let me know your experiences and (if you can bear to say) what happened symptom wise as the person neared the end of their life as I fear things are going downhill rapidly for us. Also, from a care point of view, do you know of any options such as a night time care, so my father in law can get some rest to care for her better. Thank you so much to anyone who answers as I know this is a very sore subject for most people x
I was told on Friday that I have a fatal disease. To be fair it might be 20 years before I die, but ultimately I am going to become incontinent and my breathing muscles will become paralysed and I will suffocate. All my muscles are going to fail so I will become paralysed and I'm going to die. I told my sister this, today and she just said 'is it genetic?' I said 'I don't think so' and she said 'Oh thank God for that! and then just started talking about something else! I don't know if I'm being over sensitive but that upset me. FFS I'm going to die and she doesnt' care except how it affects her? I don't know. Am i being over sensitive? I might have 3 years or I might have (at the most) 20 years but that's unlikely. The average is about 8 years I think. I'm scared and I'm hurt by her reaction.
Thank you Anna. I wish my sister had said those words. Suffocation is a horrible death and I'm very scared. It's a form of Motor Neurone Disease. I don't want this. I'm so scared. I'm really really scared. i totally don't want this to happen. I don't think she is even bothered except to ask if if would affect her, when I said no, her manner changed and she didn't seem bothered anymore. I felt totally hurt by that. Like my death won't matter or something
I don't know if this is relevant but my sister is 8 and a half months pregnant and her ex.partner beat her really badly. We literally had to hide her from him as he wanted to kill her for leaving him. She was lucky to survive how he beat her up so much. Let alone how lucky we are that the baby survived too. I wonder if that is a reason why she seems selfish and a reason why I should be more tolerant of her attitude?
Often I have wistfully envied those dauntless souls who join thousands, often a million others, for political demonstrations, inaugural ceremonies, Stoneybrooks, or presently, a celebration of summer solstice at Stonehenge. Doubtless I value my comforts and druthers too much ever to become a revolutionary or whoopee among innumerable thousands.
But that aside, the logistics nag at me as ranging from completely unacceptable to downright impossible. Many others clearly don't see it this way, for there they are - in one massive body stretched as far as the eye can see. This has never been my idea of 'something to do.'
Food and drink could easily be carried, so this is no big issue. On the matter of Nature's call, a given few would doubtless have prescription colostomy bags, and no doubt many could sport diapers made for the incontinent. But these are relatively arcane solutions well beyond the imagination of most.
WHAT, pray tell, would be the resort of thousands of others who simply act on impulse and join the throng on a rush of spontaneity? Were the event actually planned to permit occasional portable potties, the lines and the waiting involved strike me as being a ready course to martyrdom.
The whole affair strikes one as suitable only for cases of desperation, as with evacuees, refugees, tent-cities, et al, - and certainly we must NEVER say 'never.' Meanwhile, for all those ever trapped in these circumstances our heart goes out.
But who knows? One day I may be seized with the fervor of a Che Guevara. In that case one's priorities are shuffled, and one is driven by fervor alone. It's good to have working knowledge of real-life possibilities.
What? What? Any comments?
My beloved dog is 12 years old. I have had her since she was a puppy and loved her like she was a child. In the last year she has been diagnosed with canine dementia, complete blindness and is now becoming incontinent. She sleeps more than anything else and hardly interacts with my son and I. I told the vet I was concerned about her quality of life and asked if I should consider putting her down. The vet suggested medications instead that would improve her life. She isn't in any pain or arthritic. She can still find her way miraculously, around the house without running into walls or falling down the stairs. My question is how do I know when it's time to let her go? Won't the vet make the suggestion? If she doesn't should I just take her to the Humane Society? It feels a little bit cold to put her down just because she's old and making me clean carpets often.
Thanks to everyone who is answering. This was my first pet and I just want to do right by her. Wish she could tell me what to do for her. She is not the dog she used to be. Poor girl.
I realize how that came across. I would take her to the Humane Society for euthanization, not to abandon her. I thought maybe if the vet isn't willing to discuss it, then I would take her somewhere else where putting her down is more negotiable. She has been with this vet her whole life.
I've never had a kid but I have heard some horror stories about giving birth. I have heard that women often get cut open downstairs and they are never the same afterwards. I have read that sometimes they are much looser and sometimes disfigured afterwards. Some even become incontinent. This sounds like it could be very detrimental to one's sex life.
Is this true? Can a guy tell if a female has given birth or not? Does it put a guy off?
Do women feel less sexy after going through all that?
Im not 8, Im 34 and my mother told me she was cut open
Our 14-year-old female Bichon Frise has become incontinent in the past two weeks. She consistently has "accidents," even though we frequently let her outside. My sister and I just returned home from college about two weeks ago, and my parents think that Shawnee may be confused by this change of environment and that that has led her to this behavior. We know that Shawnee knows it is wrong to urinate in the house, because as soon as she does, she runs straight to her cage, and we know she feels bad about it. Also, we have noticed that her hips are occasionally giving out - we wonder if this is contributing to her incontinence.
I have noticed recently that right before my period I become slightly incontinent. Usually there is not a lot of urine, not like my bladder is bursting. I can feel like I want to go then when I get near the loo it's very urgent. It dosen't happen at any other time of the month and I can usually be dying to go and not have a problem holding it. I am quite a sporty person, exercise 3 times a week and also have done the Kegal exercies for many years. Happens when I go on trampoline as well but again only right before my period. I had a smear recently and was told my pelvic floor was in good shape. I have a ten year old child. Anyone know why this is happening?
If you don't have anything useful to say don't answer.
Hello - I have a 12 y.o. poodle/terrier mix who has been diagnosed with a large tumor on his neck. I do not know if it's cancerous b/c I can't afford the $500 to have a biopsy done. I've already spent $1500 on him in the last few months b/c he got a severe infection from a wound from an unknown source. In the last few days he has almost completley lost the use of his back legs. If I help him to stand, he is very wobbly and when he tries to walk, he falls down and then tries to drag is legs behind him. Yesterday I noticed that his stomach is becoming distended. He is currently on pain medication so I don't think he's in pain. Also, he is still eating and drinking though I have to bring him to the food or the food to him. Lastly, he has become fecally incontinent. Please - give me your opinion. I was considering doing it today b/c I'm afraid he will really go down hill during the upcoming holiday weekend when my vet will be closed. If I have to take him to the ER vet they charge $100 just to walk through the door. Please help me. My vet and my family say it's time but I don't know. He acts like he's doing ok for now. The vet says he's not going to get better but worse. I don't want him to suffer and I'm afraid if I wait he could start suffering and I may not even be there to help - I have to work tomorrow. Thank you for reading.
Thank you to (most) everyone who responded. Those of you who criticized me for considering finances are just cruel. You don't know how much I love this dog. I'm losing my job next Friday due to a layoff. I've taken very good care of this dog his entire life. As I've stated, I've already spent a significant amount of money trying to save his life. I cannot believe how cold-hearted some of you can be to judge me about my inability to spend anymore money on this dog. What about the rest of my family? Should I spend money on my dog and let my family suffer and not be able to pay my bills and lose my home? How could I possibly have forseen 12 years ago when I adopted this dog from a rescure organization that I would be laid off right when he was sick and dying. This has been so hard on me that I am sitting her bawling as I type. Thank you for contributing to my suffering.
As to those who have been caring and uncritical, I thank you for your advice.
Candence thank you for the very generous offer to help with my dog but I just couldn't take money from a stranger. I appreciate it though. I have a feeling that he does have cancer in more than one place because of the loss of his back legs. He's also pooping all over himself. The first vet did a needle biopsy and said it was an infection but after 2 months of antibiotics the lump didn't go down at all. Then 2 weeks ago he was in a LOT of pain and I put him on pain meds ever since. I took him to a second vet for another opinion who said he believes it's a tumor. He said that in order to do an accurate biopsy they would have to take a "chunk" of the tumor and send it to the University - that's where the $500 comes in. That was just a week or so ago and he's gone downhill fast. I really don't think (and my vet agreed) that any treatment would significantly help. Thanks again though. I really appreciate that you care.
My daughter has only recently (last 3 months) been diagnosed with duplex kidney. But in the past 5 months or so has once a month sudden become incontinent when out with her friends or even once when sleeping ... completely emptying her bladder and not feeling a thing! Is this common?
we have a garden to the rear reached by a shared right of way, the only garden is ours, but the right of way is to let people do maintenance on their property etc. if he cries to go out at night we have been letting him out, its very dark and sometimes he does a whoopsy, i go out about 8.30 to try and make sure i pick it up. but next door but one put the bins out on every second monday and on occasion i have not got there on time. and he has stepped in dog poop 4 times in the nine months he has lived there. he put the large unbaited rat traps out in the walkway. i remonstrated and asked did he know what it would do to the dog who is blind and deaf, and he said yes., he said we will compromise, you cannot let your dog out, what do you think i should do. i threw his rat traps in the bin.
strangely enough english my dog goes out for two long walks twice daily, he is 16 now, and sometimes it is not enough. if i dont let him out he does it in the house. and actually the chap was in my garden area last time he stood in something.
this area is totally unlit, and halfway down a mountain, difficult to see if he does anything at midnight especially as he is black
the answers i am getting are very diverse, and interesting to see.
an anonymous note was left on the washing line every few weeks, we did not know which of our neighbours, was complaining, its difficult to have a meaningful conversation and reach a compromise, with someone like that, but the offshot is he has lost a lot of what he thought he had a right to, because we were very lenient, with regard to the area he was using
this is not the neighbourhood, i pick up everything in the street, this is mostly my back yard, and is infrequent, my contention is large rat traps with no bait which he says he is putting out for a rat, let me tell you if there were a rat i would know about, it
My mom has a shepard mix who is about 8 years old and she has noticed recently that the bed she sleeps on is wet in the mornings. We were thinking maybe she just couldn't hold it through the night anymore. Or is this a medical issue? We're just not sure. Do you think she needs to see a vet? Or is it just because the dog is getting older? Opinions?
as i want to know
i mean as in hypnosis, sort of thing, as i am a DL
He need taking to the toilet every couple of hours so he don't wet himself. While my mother away she's asked to carry on this routine but I dn't have time. I already purchased two months surply of incontinence pads becuase I simply don't have the time to take him to the toilet all the time.
My question is can he become incontinent from wearing them from that short time (two months) My mom would be piss?d id he dose..
the doctors were never sure why i have accidents during the night and ocasional daytime accidents. so i was wondering if you hold in pee for a long time, does your bladder weeken to the point were you cant control it?
the doctors gave me prescription medicine but it didnt help so im kinda stuck wearing diapers. i'll be wearing them untill i can get myself fixed.
uhh.... what exactly does age and gender have to do with this, seriously you are just asking for my age so you can criticize my condition
my age is 14 and i am a guy
He is now 5 months old. He was born with a congenital defect and urinates through a hole below his anus. He has sphincter control. But at night he sleeps on his back and 'leaks'. When he awakes his hind end is wet. I bathe his hindquarters daily with Fresh & Clean and Pro Pet from Walmart (the green apple scent). Both still do not eliminate the odor completely. I am concerned with bathing so frequently (because of the odor) and the 'yellow' color his hair is becoming due to the urine. He is such a trooper and luckily enjoys the time and attention. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Is euthanasia the answer when an elderly dog becomes incontinent? Or is it the answer when a dog kills a cat or rabbit?
Is an easily correctable behavioral problem grounds for euthanizing a dog of any age, sex, or breed?
How many Border Collies should be euthanized for nipping running children? Or terriers that chase/kill cats and rabbits. How many Pomeranians should be euthanized for barking incessantly, or Boxers for being eccentric?
When is euthanasia the answer, if ever, in these situations?
ETA> How many people are aware that the majority of shelter dogs are in shelters because of minor behavioral problems? Or because of elderly issues like incontinence?
Weird question, but I heard that if you have too much anal sex your sphincter muscle can become weak and make it hard for you to control your bowels. Is it true?
my little girl (14) is still in diapers (she has been incontinent all her life) and i hav got her in disposable diapers 24/7 she ses that they are starting to leak at the special school she attends and is very has become very embarrassed and shy. she has begged me to find some plastic pants for her to wear over the top so to catch any leaks. we live in AUSTRALIA so obviously it needs to b an australian store, do you know of any that may stock them in an adult size roughly.
i have checked out the internet but id feel better if i could buy them with the diapers when im out shopping
thank you so much for your support and i hope you know plenty of shops! love caroline
to be honest, just thinking about it makes me feel queezy cos i imagine it would be dirty/smelly and really painful. and i once read you can become incontinent.
men, is it really that much better?
thanks in advance
My husband's mother has Alzheimer's Disease and has now become unmanageable in her own home
She is incontinent and is verbally abusive to any form of carer that Social Services send.
Consequently my husband and his sister have to do everything for her.
It is now becoming intolerable for them. They have no life of their own and they feel it is time that she went into a home.
Do they approach Social Services about this or do they go to the GP?
Also how on earth are they going to get mother to co-operate?
Has anyone been in a similar position?
Our German Sheppard took a chomp on our ferret. It happened at the end of summer. She is now paraplegic. She does have a little movement in her hind legs & when you stimulate them or run cool water over her legs or back she kicks them like crazy(but she can rarely hold up her back ). We have done water therapy with her every since then. We also walk her using a strap and do crunches for her to try to encourage strength in her back. She also has become incontinent although she still has regular bowel movements. She took two steroid shots after it happened, but we couldn't tell that it made it better or worse. We don't have a specialist for ferrets in this area, so if anyone has a reccomendation we would appreciate it. We just don't want to give up on her even though it has been probably 6 months she is still a very sweet girl. If you can tell us what to do for her or someone who can do something for her we will appreciate it very much. We looked into the wheelchair for ferrets, but it looked like alot more trouble than it was worth. We rigged up a little skateboard for her so she can have a little supervised freedom. Thank you for your help. Have a Happy New Year!
I am 14 and i have added many questions on getting better diapers or becoming incontinent. But a lot of people on here seem to think its wrong to like diapers and i know it is weird to like them and people make fun of me for it and i wish they could grow up. Also this question is not a damn joke even if it seems like it.
I mean they need to wear diaper?
There are many schools of thought surround when a very large dog should be spayed (English Mastiff to be specific) and I'm really unsure as to which to follow.
I've heard that doing it early, pediatric really, at 8-12 weeks can help them heal faster and is much cheaper. They also seem to pull through the surgery better.
Doing it at the standard 6-8 months is standard for a reason- hits them right before their first heat cycle but allows them get get a good portion of their growing done before the spay. Waiting a little longer can also lessen the chance of jostling the bladder during the spay such that the dog becomes incontinent.
Some say to wait until after 1 heat cycle to allow some hormones to get into the system and to allow the vulva to drop to help prevent chronic urinary tract infections.
Another school of thought is to wait until around 15 months for a large breed dog to allow their joints and ligaments to fully develop to help prevent dysplastic joints. Others say that this is not true and that dogs that develop dysplastic joints do so because of genetics not due to when they were spayed.
Finally, some say to wait until 3 years of age when the dog is fully grown and mature and that way they will develop their full potential of bone density, height, and weight, and everything will be fully developed.
Personally I'd like to spay my new addition (9 weeks old yesterday) as soon as safely possible. What do you guys think and do you have any further information? Thanks!
Two new cats have moved in next door and have been coming into our garden, through the cat flap into our house (!) and intimidating our cat through the patio windows. As a consequence, he has started becoming incontinent indoors (of urine, thank god). Whenever he has a scare outside, he comes in and wees! The poor thing is nervous and has become less inclined to go out. Help, before I go next door and upset the neighbours. Thank you.
He is only 18 months old.
And has been castrated.
I have 2 dogs that currently sleep on our couch. We just bought a new couch and do not want the dogs sleeping on the new couch. One dog is becoming a little incontinent so it is very important that they do not sleep on the couch anymore. They each have doggie beds that they do sleep in when we are home. I do not know what to do to stop 10 year old dogs from coming on the couch.
Please be reverent and understanding. My elderly male cat has become bowel & urinary incontinent; that is, he cannot control his faculties. He is almost 10 years old. I am wanting clean, proper, and responsible answers to a most difficult decision that my wife and I are having to make.
Please do not be crass, abusive, and/or distasteful. I will not hesitate to report anyone to Yahoo that is.
My daschund was just paralyzed a little over a month ago from either jumping up and down or something like that. I had Just bought him a girlfriend so I could breed them, I made him a home made wheelchair it works perfect, but my vet is not good with communicating with me about how long he will be like this. It does not bother me carring him around all the tim just the fact that he is incontinent! He can not wear diapers he drags them off, now he has torn his back legs up from dragging them. Yesterday I seen that he has a big blood blister on his back foot from the dragging or something, My grand maw had the idea to put a baby onesie on him to help keep his legs safe, I also put neosporen and gauze and wrapped them up with tape. I didn't know what else would go wrong until my little female became "in heat" for the first time! Now my dasch is hopping around for her and whining all day long! Does anyone know anything about this situation at all? If you have ANYTHING it would be greatly appreciated!! that you so much
I just read something interesting. It applies to everyone, including myself. I don't care who hates me for posting this question, I'm just trying to warn people to get ready. Take it or leave it.
Timothy Ch.3~"This know also, perilous times shall come. For men have become lovers of themselves: Covetous, boasters, proud, blastphemers, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, fierce, incontinent (lustful), unable to control desires, despisers of those that are good, traitors, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God...
ever-learning, yet never able to come to the knowledge of the truth".
Sound like anyone you know??? It sure sounds about right to me! How can anyone deny that these AREN'T the end of days? WAKE UP!!! You want THE TRUTH>>>>YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
Sorry for my "craziness", but all I'm trying to say that we need to wake up and smell the corruption. It's all around us. And Elizabeth E..there is ALOT more evil in the world now than there has ever been...watch the documentary "Taxi to the Dark Side"..it doesn't get much worse than that!
Sorry, I mean "Catherine E."
To give more detail, my parent's cat attacks her tail. And it's not a cute chasing her tail either. She attacks it to the point of bleeding and she hisses and yells like she thinks it's her "enemy" as my parents call it. We got her about four years ago from a humane society, she was two years old. She didn't do it right when we got her, but shortly after (with no apparent triggers) she began to chase it. Over the years the severity has increased, to the point that a week or so ago a half inch of her bone was exposed. So my parents made the decision to have her tail removed, they spoke to the vet and the vet agreed to do it. When they brought her in that morning and the vet asked how much we wanted off, my father said he wanted nothing left on, because even a couple inches she would still attack, the vet agreed to it, and my father told them that if this doesn't help we'll have to put her down. When we went to pick her up she was already in a kennel so we didn't see her. The surgery (in combo with blood work, meds and overnight fee) came to 372.00. However, when we got home we saw that the vet left at least two inches on her tail and when she has managed to get her Elizabethan collar off she has attacked it worse than ever still. My father called the vet this morning and they said that they couldn't remove any more than they had because part of their tail is attacked to their anus and she would become incontinent. So here are my questions...
1. Was it negligent of the vet not to tell us in the first place that they could not remove the entire tail and have us pay almost 400.00 for a basically pointless surgery?
2. Has anyone experienced a similar tail biting behavior with their cats? If they did, was it resolved? How?
My cat only has a few days left, because since the surgery was unsuccessful, my parents have decided to put her down. Please do not tell me this is inhumane, because I believe if a human or animal is in enough pain that life is no longer pleasant then euthanasia is the best option and our cat cannot continue to suffer like she is. However, if there is something that our vet or we have missed that could be the cause of this any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you!
A: On a trip to Mexico! Thanks for the star!
would you consider a long term relationship with them if? They had a chronic health problem that meant they may become impotent, incontinent, paralysed in the future. I don't know if I would but hope I would.
After all the LIES I keep seeing on YA about Palin being a member of or god forbid supporting the AIP you'd think these whiny folks are about to become incontinent. Then there are the truly "special" ones that seem to think that wanting to secede from the Union is akin to treason (they need to read the definition of treason) or somehow unamerican (it's not).
Bobo what part of it's not Treason don't you understand ? I suggest you look up the legal definition of the word.
Amazing how many here don't know the meaning of the word Treason, equally amazing that you don't know the difference between secession and sedition. But I guess this is to be expected with outcome based education nowdays.
So because there are people out there that love this country and yet hate what it has become they're somehow Unamerican? What a strange world you people live in.
