My vauxhall corsa is drinking fuel. And it is breaking my wallet. I just checked my miles and since ive put £54 in ive only got 280 miles out of the car. this surely cannot be right. There dosent seem to be any other problems with the car. it does have a sports exhaust which came already fitted but surely this cannot be the reason for the excess fuel.
help and tips to stop the problem will be much appreciated.
thanks boyd.
p.s the car overal has done 78000 miles.
Alright I have a c5 corvette and I feel that the stock and other exhaust mods may be restrictive by just a bit. So i was wondering would i be able to use a C6 exhaust on the C5 since they are on 1 generation or a couple years off. But i wouldnt use a stock c6 exhaust on a c5 still a lil restrictive. But wondering would a borla or corsa or whatever cat back exhaust work on a corvettte c5????
since the c6 is shorter wouldnt the engine and exhaust also be moved back also?
well my main problem with restrictive is the muffler on the side of the exhaust pipe and the flow having to travel farther than just going staight through the muffler and out. Any ideas or will the c6 cat back work on the c5?
I have a 58 plate vauxhall corsa SXI 1.2 engine. I am considering making some modifications to it and was after a little advice as i would like to achieve faster 0 - 60... How beneficial would it be to fit a sports cat with a new exhaust, right through from engine, back box and tail pipe? I was also thinking of installing an induction kit. What would be the best cat, Exhaust and induction kit for my car and for what i want to achieve?
I am also thinking about an ECU remap, is this worth it and would it benefit my car, if i carry out the changes suggested above?
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers
Car runs perfect (its new) I have a Cold Air Intake, and a Corsa Exhaust...Ill be driving and it starts to rain hard the car will drop power and sound as if the exhaust broke free on me(obviously didn't) and sounds bogged down and loud...when i add power it almost sounds
like a backfire but really quiet backfire...If i slow down or stop it runs perfect...everyone is clueless on this and mechanics think im crazy...only happens in heavy rain...please help
MY CAI is sitting at engine level it is self enclosed sealed from the engine...it sits about 3 feet off the ground in a enclosed hard plastic area that draws from the stock intake box made by Roto-Fab...every G8 in the area has one and has had 0 issues with it out here...i was searching all over the internet and this seems to be a reoccuring issue with vehicles but not common, there are about 8 other G8's that also have had this issue also
I have a 1987 corvette fully stocked and im gonna spice it up as much as i can. So what is the difference in the names of the exhaust systems? LIke the corsa, flowmaster and so on... Im looking to get as much hoursepower but yet save gas..i know you cant have both but i want a good exhaust system so that i can let people know im coming around the corner...lol Im probally gonna plan on getting a whole new system.
how loud can your exhaust be in texas... with the corsa exhaust will it be too loud? will i have a lot of police encouters and police trying to give me tickets?
but it's not,it's using a lot of petrol,it's not smoking in any way, when it drives it will not go over 40mph, it sounds like it's misfiring, but it's firring on all 4 cylinders....???
so was looking at a few local websites that sells cars and came across modded R reg corsa for 400

I have a 1.2i 16v vauxhall corsa c with 70,000 miles on the clock.. when i get to about 4000rpm i can hear a whistling sound.. what could this be? new cambelt?
i have a courtesy car at the moment its a 1.2 ford fiesta with 11,000 miles on the clock and it feels so much faster than my corsa.. i have soem modifications on my corsa.. i have a big bore exhuast ( backbox ) 17 inch alloys.. i dont know if these could be effecting the power or not.. im told that the exhaust is losing back pressure, iand i was also told it is a performance exhaust which could see gains upto 4bhp .
anybody help me out what might be wrong? it whistes at 4000rpm+ and the revs take realy realy long compared to the fiesta..
I'm looking for an exhaust system for my 95 vet that is loud and has a deep tone to it. The two I've been looking at are "Borla" and "Corsa". Does anyone have a suggestion on which system is loader and better? Thank you
People keep telling me that im losing back pressure and if i take my exhaust off my car will be faster. persionaly i think its aload of rubbish because it feels just as fast as it was before.. i have a corsa c 1.2 by the way. it sounds better thats the only difference its made i think. i bought the exhaust for £100 off ebay and its a performance exhaust and i was told it can give upto about 3bhp in gains.
Can i have soembody who knows alod about this sort of stuff? im getting told different things
I have a Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa which will be 10 years old later this year. It has done 44k miles, which is about 45-50% less than a car with 'average' milage.
For the past couple of days, the general car noise when driving seems really loud and a lot louder when applying the gas.
If it isn't a hole in the exhaust, then what is it?
For example the noise of a formula one car or more powerful / chunky noise
I have a vauxhall corsa :D
UK sites/products thanks!!
just bought a corsa c 2006 sxi+. got all the irmscher bits for it and irmscher signa alloys. was wondering what i could do to make it go that little bit faster. got irmscher exhaust system aswell. cheers
Ok my car is chucking out white smoke like more than it should especially at high revs. Anyone know what this is? O and its coming from the exhaust.
it is a 1996 N corsa premier
smokes more as it heats up. it has not been driven much as i havnt passed my test its is in 2 weeks and the oil colour is the same as when i put it in, has had recent oil change (by me) could it be too much oil?
Just passed my driving test, and i am now looking for a car.
I have about £3000 pounds to spend.
I am Italian and want something to represent this...
I have 2 ideas in my head...
Mk3 Fiat Punto 1.2L 16v Active Sport 3dr (2004 - 2005) (£2500 - £3000)
Alfa Romeo 147 1.6L Lusso 3dr (2001- 2002) (£1500-£2000)
Or similar... (Give opinions)
Modifications to the Punto will be as follow:
Abarth side skirts, 17" Wolfrace alloy wheels, 40mm lowering springs, Remapped ecu, Exhaust system, K&N air filter + more...
Aim: To give the Punto a more sportier look.
Modifications to the 147 will be as follow:
New shape (2005 onwards) Front and rear bumpers, Headlights, Taillights, Genuine Mito alloy wheels, Exhaust system, K&N air filter + more...
Aim: To upgrade the mk1 147 into the mk2 version.
The car will be very specific... It will provide me with driving pleasure and a project to work on. The car will be kept for 2 - 3 years.
A crappy Fiesta or Corsa will just not be suitable!
Its a single exhaust. Which one would you recommend for the best sound? Im looking for a deep sound.
- Flowmaster 40's mufflers and X-pipe or H-pipe
- Corsa
- Boom Tube
- or something else
Just wondering what everyone thinks,
I know borla corsa etc all of the most expensive brands are the best (in my opinion) and a V6 will never every sound like a v8, but how would yous rank and compare Flowmasters, Magnaflow, Mac, Ford Racing performance parts, etc. for V6s
Thanks in advance!
In the same dial as the speedo, the "control indicator lamp for the exhaust" is illuminated. It lights up yellow and has a gearbox type symbol. This indicates a fault in the emissions/emission control system, according to the handbook, if it lights up constant. (If it flashes that would indicate a catalyst fault.) The car has been kept out in the open in the rain for a week and used on very short journeys 3 times. Over the last year it has done 2500 miles. Would the problem be either dirty fuel, condensation or a cold engine causing emission problems? Is it anything to worry about or will it eventually go out after a hard run? I had the same on a Corsa for years but that signified a mass airflow sensor fault and was not the same as the new Astra. Any sensible help appreciated. Thanks.
I might also add that the car is temperamental. The spanner light came on and the car stalled regularly a year ago but after a 700 mile run it cured itself.

Hi i have a 1994 vauxhall corsa swing. Its a 1.2 4 cylinder engine. I believe that my head gasket has either gone or is about to go. The symptons are:
white smoke from exhaust but only on certain days
poor acceleration
when i removed the oil cap there was a white milky substance.
I am gutted about this as it is my first car and havent actually drove it on my own yet.
I have slight mechanical knowlege and as i am out of work i cannot afford to pay labour costs which i have heard are around £450. Therefore as it would cost more to repair the car than i bought it. I thought that i would attempt to change the gasket myself. Is it easy ? How do i go about timing the cams and that ?. Thanks Dec
cheers for the advice. I dont think that the car is a 16 valve more like an 8 valve. is there any way i can find out. I have just left the car idling and noticed that wear the head gasket is there is a small oil leak on the front. The back of the head is bone dry around the gasket. I have booked the car in for a service wednesday. If the mechanic does give the go ahead that it is the head gasket i am adimant that i am going to do the job myself. I have a mate who is an apprentice mechanic so he has most of the tools. If worse comes to worse it may be even worth a new engine off ebay :L. Ill keep you updated on what happens :D
if it is the head gasket and i chose to do it myself. What parts will i need to renew in order for the engine to run fine for at least a year and half ? cheers
Hey Their, I'm Looking for the best exhaust system For Silverado. My friends told me to buy corsa and the others told me go for magna flow. But i was thinking about the bankspower exhaust system the rear quads. Till now i'm confused, i need help can some one help to choose one.
Seen a 05 reg 1.2 corsa Breeze in a garage for £4400, since its about 4yrs old now just wondering how long the original exhaust would have lasted, as am thinking of buying it and want some ammo to use for haggling etc if it hasnt been changed already, would be hoping to get the price down to about £3000 but think a mite be setting the sights a little high like, but one never knows unitil its tried eh lol
Am not just focusing solely on the exhaust, am asking that as i said because am looking for a few things a can use to haggle the price down a bit,
and sorry but no one pays the asking price on a car from a dealer unless they are a complete push over, also your estimate of an entire exhaust system cost from kwik fit its also a bit optimistic as the CAT would be in the £120 range, and centre and rear exhausts £40-60 each
the exhaust is abot to blow on the car how much will it cost and will i have to buy a full exhaust system for it
tried to add pic but couldn't. try this www.cooperstrucks.com/trucksale.php its about half way down the page
A control indicator on my dash is now lit up whilst the engine's running - in the manual it says as follows:
"Fault in emission control system. The permitted emission limits may be exceeded. Consult a workshop."
Has anyone experienced this, or know anything about it? What could be causing the problem, how to fix it, an idea of cost...
Thanks very much.
I'm afraid I'm a bit of a strereotypical girl when it comes to cars.... is the lambda sensor the sort of thing i can look at myself? or will i have to take it in to a workshop?
my car (Vauxhall Corsa 1.4i M Reg) had mot last wk and failed on several things,
some are just defective bulbs which ive sorted but others are ones I would leave 2 them but wondering how much approx it would cost in total.
Offside Track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.2.B.1f)
Offside sill Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.3)
Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive (7.3.2c)
Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.2b)
I drive a Vauxhall Corsa 52 plate and this morning when I was driving it it slowed right down and my exhaust emissions light started flashing. I got out the car and the exhaust was making a popping sound?? I turned the car off and back on and the light is still on but not flashing, the popping sound from the exhaust has stopped. Does anyone know what this could be?? The car is an automatic if thats makes any difference?
I would just like to add that there is such thing as exhaust emmisions! I didn't make it up. I got this information from my car manuel.
basically my exhaust often when the car is stationary or driving in the low speed range (0-30/40 odd) it often makes a rattleing sound and vibrates a lot in the car although the noise heard from the outside of the car isnt so extreme, it stops when im driving at a faster speed and also does it when im not in the apporopiate gear for the speed im going at, anyone know whats wrong or how I could replace it without needing to take it 2 a garage (if possible)
Hi
I am not sure if I have a head gasket problem.
The following makes me think I do not have a problem;
1. Oil is okay, no cream, white streaks in it & not sludgy (oil is dark brown/ black but is getting changed at service)
2. not losing any water/ coolant, had coolant changed at last service & has remained at currently level since service - coolant is orange but translucent, with no oil or debris.
3. Engine is not overheating or coolant temperature is not excessive - sits between 80-90 on coolant gauge on dash when car is fully warm.
The worrying stuff;
1. Creamy "mayonnaise"on oil filler cap & just inside oil opening on engine (I only use car really for short 5-10 min journeys & 1-2 times per month gets a proper 1hour+ run)
2. When car starts up, some white smoke/ water/ condensation from tailpipe, but when car is fully warm, the exhaust fumes are clear/ invisible.
I may be worrying over nothing, but I hope I can put my mind at rest. Also how much approx is a compression test for gasket leaks?
Thanks
Yesterday ,i have changed my car spark plugs, today,a thick carbon layer is formed on spark plugs.?
i have recently changed all the engine chamber, and the engine were dissassembled.
the spark plugs were always covered with carbon but after maybe a month from changing spark plugs now it takes only one day.
my carburettor was rebuilt last wednesday.
my car is opel Corsa A (model 1986) 1.2L .carburettor pierburg 1B1.
black smoke from the exhaust.
valve guides inserts not renewed
someone told me that my ignition system is more powerful than my standard igniton system( distributor..etc) may cause that problem?? really it can be??
flowmasters
corsa

or something else
I got a corsa cat-back exhaust and i was to put headers on it.
Which one is the best for it. Kooks or slp?
ok i have just bought my first car. It's a 2004 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2sxi from 2004. I got my mother to drive it home, i'm not quite 17 yet. During the drive home, of about 8 miles, at about the 6 mile mark the car started...umm...juddering. I personally thought nothing of it. We stopped off at a petrol station where i filled it up slightly. However, upon starting it again smoke was coming out of the exhaust (i think it was white) along with the juddering. This was the point where i realised something was up. Then on the final 100 metres to my house the temperature gauge shot right up, at which point i turned the heater on and the temp. gauge returned back to the mid-point. we continued on home, probably not the best idea i know.
Upon getting home, i lifted the bonnet. from my limited automotive knowledge i noticed that the coolant holder cup thing was empty. so i thought "maybe that's the source of all these problems", so i proceeded to fill it up. I started the car again. the car started juddering and stuff came out of the exhaust again. I turned it off and lifted the bonnet. i again noticed that the coolant holder was empty, fully empty. Leak maybe? Head gasket? i dunno, so i was wondering whether any of you knd people may be able to help me.
oh i forgot to say, the engine management light came on. is that of any help? my parents are taking it to the garage tomorrow, but i was wondering anyone can shed any light on the situation before tomorrow.
Thank you in advance.
i just went outside had a quick look. The oil doesn't appear milkly, and there isnt a lot of smoke. The smoke is kinda sporadic, as in it isnt always bellowing out with smoke.
Ok for those that care and those who maybe experiencing the same problems as me. I had it towed to a garage this morning and they ran a load of tests on it. It passed the compression test, but it still seems likely it's the head gasket. The quote i've received is £520 which may seem a lot but when you take into consideration the perceived cheapness of the car it isn't too bad. It also helps when you have awesome parents lol.
Anyways i would like to thank everyone that has helped and kudos to those who suggested head gasket from the limited information i gave.
I have a Corsa 1.2 1999, and I failed my MOT yesterday on
1) Nearside Headlamp not working on dipped beam. (Ive got the bulb)
2) Rear Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases.
How much should I be looking at paying for a new backbox and fitting? Plus the fitting of a headlamp bulb? I was quoted £71 by pearce brothers but thought that was a bit excessive, any thoughts?
i have a corsa 1993 model the engine is strong and runs very well but now it smokes a lot when i rev it and water leaks from my exhaust any ideas??????
its white smoke
Do they need a good slap to sort them out?
That's the one, furry dice and playboy logos and numberplates.
Sorry maryann if I make an exception to you then I would have to make exceptions to others. 1 slap takes them all.
Hi there folks...
A little help if you could, please.
I own an S - Reg 1.4 5 door Vauxhall Corsa.
Of late, the exhaust is audibly rattling - sounding like maybe two empty tins knocking together.
Nothing seems to be loose - as far as I can tell, and I know people often say this, but cars aren't especially my forte.
What in anyone's educated opinion, could this be the beginnings of?
In addition, is there anything I could do, or what should I expect the repairs to cost?
Your help appreciated.
Many thanks.
Brenton
Now this banana has been in the freezer for a very long time and is rock solid I can use it as a hammer.
If I was to take this mighty banana and place into into the exhaust of a highly modified vaxhall corsa 1.2?
I am not that clever with cars but what would happen? The exhaust would not be able to let out all the fumes so would it just pop?
I am a schoolboy who leads an amazing double life.........but when I eat a banana, an amazing transformation occurs.......I am BANANAMAN!
I have a frozen banana in case of an emergency is someone broke into my house whilst I was in the kitchen and before I could move they were into the kitchen with a crowbar or knife.......
I would open the freezer and pull out the magic frozen banana and throw it at their head.
Black Panther I am not a ladyboy like you and don't put pieces of fruit in such places.
But since you do......good on you......you mother has taught you well.
I have been told that a King Edward spud will do the job.
Why do they think that a bodykit, a huge exhaust, huge alloy wheels with tiny stock brakes and a K&N filter makes their peugeot 206 or vauxhall corsa into a rocket on the main roads?
They are always at the traffic lights so impatient always revving the engine silly.
I feel like putting a frozen banana in their exhaust.
i have opel corsa 1987,engine 1.2L,white,blue and black smoke from the exhaust.
when i start the car on the morning,it doesnt start smoothly(weird noise).
often,my spark plugs is covered with a lot of carbon.
Anyone know the part number and where i can get one on the net?
I'm after my first car and my friend is selling her T reg Corsa and she said I could have it for £550. MOT and tax til July 09, needs a new tail exhaust which she says will cost £30 but it's fine other than that. New(ish) battery and tyres, 1.2 engine and near 100,000 miles. I was looking for a Ford Ka but this is cheaper. Do you think I should go for it, or should I spend a bit more money and get a Ka?
i have just had a new exhaust from the middle box to the back box but it is not hanging properly and the emmisions are to high i have assembled it properly and i have sealed it but my friend thinks it may be the air filter as the one i have got on there is a performance filter and my other one is minging how can i fix these two problems
